Digital Printing for smaller run

The advantages of Digital Printing are:
• Cost Effective, Short-run Capability
With traditional offset printing, short runs are a big issue because of the time and high upfront cost involved in making films and plates and it is generally not economical to produce small runs. Digital Printing requires little set-up time and no films and plates are required.
• Quick Turnaround
Production can begin as soon as document creation is complete. Files may be transferred to digital presses via CD Rom, memory stick, scanning or via email – hence Digital Printing is often known as Printing on Demand.
• Variable Data Capability
With traditional offset printing, each output is a reproduction of the original and each and every copy is the same. With Digital Printing, each copy can be customised to suit a particular need, e.g. training manuals can be produced with customised sections to meet specified groups’ knowledge level or marketing collaterals can be individualised with ease (this form of “one-to-one” marketing is highly effective in the direct mail arena).
Digital Printing is intended to complement traditional offset printing. It is most effectively used for short-runs, quickly obsolete items, tight turnaround deadlines, and customisation such as one-to-one direct marketing.
